Goodbye Wigan; It's been fun

Let's be honest, it's been coming. Starting in January of every season was a dangerous game.

Yes, following their FA Cup win against Man City, then their 4-1 defeat to Arsenal F.C, Wigan Athletic have been relegated from their 8 year spell in the Premier League and will be playing in the Championship next season. The only team to win the FA cup and get relegated in the same season. Normally with relegation battles, it is exciting, but I think everyone is a little bit gutted that Wigan had to go down.

Wenger: "It is sad Wigan go down because they play good football, with intelligent players."

I'll say, but let us look at some more favourable memories of theirs:

May 11th 2013- Latics' Ben Watson scores in injury time of the FA Cup to seal victory for their first ever major trophy against Manchester City. Because of this, they will play in the Europa League.

Pre 2009/10 season - Wigan appoints Roberto Martinez as manager.

September 29th 2009 - Wigan 3 - 1 Chelsea; Their first win against a 'top four' team, sees Petr Cech sent off.

March 8th 2010 - Wigan 1 - 0 Liverpool; Wigan start their late search of survival in the Premier League by a solid display, also dealing a blow to Liverpool's European hopes.

April 18th 2010 - Wigan 3 - 2 Arsenal; Wigan virtually securing their  status as a Premier League team, after a 2-0 lead was thrown away by Arsenal, ending their title hopes. This is first season Wigan have ever defeated the 'top four'.

End of the seasons - Always surving in the Premier League by their second half form.

Wigan fans, and the club can't feel down about this, they play good football, Fa Cup win will go down in their history books, they can always come back into the Premier League and hopefully they'll do well with Martinez in the Europa League too.

Good Luck, Latics, no doubt we'll see you in 14/15!
